An essential part of the mayor’s job is to listen to the community. That means meeting with residents, local businesses, non-profits, and community leaders. Not sending a proxy, or guessing what the community needs, but actually meeting with people, asking questions, and listening. That’s what a caring, committed mayor does. She shows up – to listen, to share, & to learn. She also follows up with action to keep the conversation going and to build relationships.
